(TargetDailyNews.com) – Americans may find it strange that the least popular vice president of all time, Kamala Harris, is suddenly being talked about as if she were an unstoppable dynamo gathering votes and dollars like no one before.
For some time, the Democratic Party has been denying what everyone can plainly see—that President Joe Biden is senile and declining fast. They have characterized anyone noting this reality as a crazed partisan hack while denying that Biden had any plans to exit the presidential race. Then on July 21st, Biden dropped out of the contest unexpectedly.
Now Nancy Pelosi, formerly the Speaker of the House, has endorsed Harris for the Democratic nomination. On July 22nd, Pelosi gushed about the “wisdom and leadership” allegedly displayed by the president, saying that she saluted him with “love and gratitude.” In the same statement, Pelosi endorsed Kamala Harris “with immense pride and limitless optimism.”
Pelosi’s words echo the tone the Biden campaign has used about its 2020 election victory. The Biden camp cited the president’s gathering of 81 million votes to imply that Biden was one of, if not the most, popular U.S. President in history.
The same number comes up when discussing Harris’ fundraising. To the surprise of many, the vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee claims to have raised $81 million overnight after Biden exited the race.
Pelosi is indulging in some oddly soaring rhetoric around Harris, who dropped out of the 2020 primary with essentially zero support, and whose polling numbers have been consistently dismal. Perhaps giving a preview of the kind of rhetoric liberals will use for the Harris candidacy, Pelosi made sure to draw attention to the fact that Harris is a “woman in politics” who allegedly fights for women’s reproductive rights. The former speaker also called the vice president a “champion for working families.”
Pelosi is one to watch in the political game of chess, and her words carry weight. While she did not publicly press Biden to exit the presidential race, it is widely reported that she was working behind the scenes to do just that.
