(TargetDailyNews.com) – The most bizarre time in modern American politics continues to be unpredictable as Vice President Kamala Harris is, suddenly, “popular” as a candidate for president.
At least that’s what it seems like Democrat play-masters and Harris herself would like the public to believe. After President Joe Biden announced he is dropping out of the race but remaining in the White House (sparking obvious questions about his fitness for office), the woman who dropped out of the 2020 race due to having virtually no support is sounding awfully confident.
After Biden’s shocking but not surprising announcement, Harris said she intended to “earn and win” the nomination for the Democratic party. This will require her to do something different than she did four years ago, as that former approach earned her nothing.
The Democratic party is likely to try to make great hay out of the fact that Harris is a woman, and is not white. Voters should expect to hear plenty of rhetoric about breaking glass ceilings, overcoming alleged racism, and more. Conservatives would be wise to prepare to be called sexists and racists for any criticism they level at the nation’s least-popular vice president in history.
So far, though, some big-name liberals do not yet appear to be all-in for Harris. Former president Barack Obama, for example, has not endorsed her. What’s more, according to his advisor Jonathan Krott, West Virginia’s Senator Joe Manchin, who defected from the Democrats earlier in the year, may challenge Harris for the nomination.
The vice president has been busy trying to drum up support, working the phones to secure the blessing of figures such as Annie Kuster, a House Rep. from New Hampshire. Harris has also gotten commitments of support from Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro and Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina. Cooper said Harris can beat Trump because she has “integrity.”
