Teenage Boy Killed in Bizarre London Sword Attack

(TargetDailyNews.com) – A deranged man wielding a sword killed a 14-year-old boy and injured four other people, including police, during a rampage in a northeast London suburb on April 30th. The 36-year-old man was seen wearing a yellow hoodie and carrying a sword. No other information about the man was available at the time of writing.

The attack occurred near the Hainault subway station, and police are treating the matter as a mental health episode unrelated to terrorism. They expressed their belief that there was no wider threat to the public at the time. The incident does highlight the damage one deranged lunatic can cause with a sword in a brief period, however.

The 14-year-old died from his injuries after receiving emergency medical care. Two police were hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries.

Chief Supt. Stuart Bell called the attack “truly horrific” and said he couldn’t fathom how the victims and their families must be feeling in comments given during a press conference after the man was arrested.

Police relayed the tale, saying they were summoned Tuesday morning in response to reports of a stolen vehicle being driven into a home and a madman attacking people with a sword.

Witness videos show a man in a yellow hoodie wielding a sword while police shout and yell at the man to drop the weapon. The suspect ran around the area and climbed over backyard fencing to evade police. Eventually, he was cornered and disabled by a stun gun.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said the attack wasn’t terror-related and there were no additional suspects. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the incident “shocking” and decried the violence. King Charles III said his thoughts and prayers went out to the families of the victims and those injured in the attack. He also praised the courage of first responders.

The Hainault station was temporarily closed while police completed their investigation.
