Special Counsel Pleads with Judge to Reject Trump Dismissal Attempt

(TargetDailyNews.com) – Special Counsel Jack Smith’s January 6th case against President Trump relies on the presumption that the 2020 election was free and fair despite evidence to the contrary. In their latest court filings, prosecutors in his office argue that Trump’s request to dismiss the case relies on “distortions and misrepresentations.”

Trump’s team has maintained that the case was political and that Smith’s attempts to interfere with his 2024 campaign are precisely the election interference of which he accuses Trump. Flipping one’s behavior into accusations is a well-established pattern of manipulators. The process is called DARVO or “deny, accuse, reverse victim and offender,” otherwise known as a narcissistic reversal.

A similar technique is known as the reversive blockade, where the individual tells a lie that is the complete opposite of the truth, forcing onlookers to conclude the real truth must lie somewhere between the two sides. When one side lies in direct opposition to the truth, it will always benefit the liar and harm the person telling the truth.

Smith’s office claimed Trump lied about the 2020 election when he suggested it was fraudulent or otherwise corrupt. Trump’s supporters and much of the American public believe otherwise.

Trump’s team has requested dismissal multiple times, and D.C. Judge Tanya Chukan has yet to rule on any of those motions. He’s pleaded not guilty.

Trump’s team argues that the case against him infringes on his First Amendment rights. They also called the attempt to hook him on trumped-up charges “selective and vindictive prosecution.”

They further argued that Trump was already acquitted of criminal behavior in Senate impeachment proceedings, so further criminal proceedings against him violate double jeopardy protections.

Prosecutors alleged Trump’s attempts at dismissal are meritless attempts to evade responsibility for January 6th. Trump’s attorneys argued that the language in the indictment is inflammatory and prejudicial.

The criminal indictments against Trump are now ongoing in 4 jurisdictions, while Trump maintains they are all baseless political attacks of a weaponized Department of Justice and biased Democrat operatives acting as district attorneys.
