Seven Dead in Migrant Smuggling Car Crash

(TargetDailyNews.com) – Seven people are dead, including two innocent Americans, after a car trafficking illegal immigrants slammed head-on into an SUV during a police chase. A Honda suspected of trafficking migrants was pursued by police on U.S. Highway 57 in Zavala County in Texas on Wednesday, November 8th.

The driver of the Honda attempted to pass a tractor-trailer and collided with a Chevy SUV coming in the opposite direction. Both driver and passenger in the Chevy were killed along with all five people in the Honda. The Chevy’s occupants were both from Georgia while the driver of the Honda was from Houston.

The illegal immigrants were all from Honduras, according to authorities.

The highway was shut down for hours while police investigated and cleared the wreckage. It reopens later in the day, according to statements from the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office. They’ll continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The incident highlights how the lack of security around the southern border threatens the lives of innocent Americans on the road.

Democrat mayors from major cities around the country sought an urgent meeting with President Joe Biden regarding border security and the influx of illegal immigrants impacting their hometowns earlier this month. Mayors Eric Adams, Brandon Johnson, Karen Bass, Mike Johnston, and Sylvester Turner representing New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver, and Houston, respectively, were all signatories on an October 28th letter asking for more money and approval for migrants to work.

They outlined that the crisis has significantly impacted their state and city budgets due to the number of illegals arriving, the different points of origin, and the fact so many are seeking political asylum and refugee status. They were asking for $5 billion in federal funding and rapid work authorization so they could integrate into society.

The Biden administration has overseen an unprecedented rise in illegal immigration, nearly 10 million are already in the country with millions more anticipated before the 2024 election. September 2023 was the highest month on record.
