Oklahoma Governor Bans Using Funds For DEI At All State Agencies

(TargetDailyNews.com) – Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) signed an executive order that banned state funding, access to property, and other resources from going toward any state agency or institution that declares support for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.

The governor’s office highlighted that the EO was intended to terminate discrimination based on superficial characteristics like skin color or gender and reinstate the importance of merit and competence.

Stitt emphasized that success in Oklahoma will come from shifting from ideologies and focusing instead on merit and offering opportunities to young people. Stitt also stated they were getting back to the original purpose of education which is to prepare young people for the workforce.

The order would also prohibit any funds going toward coercive indoctrination campaigns, ‘educational programming,’ or any oath-taking that has anything to do with promoting one demographic over another. DEI programs are notorious for their disdain towards white men, specifically, and the elevation of women and minorities into positions of power solely based on their status as women or people of color.

Harvard President Claudine Gay is an example of someone whose academic accomplishments and credibility have been scrutinized in recent weeks after she was hauled into Congress to explain the dramatic rise of antisemitism on her campus.

Director of the Independent Women’s Forum’s Center for Economic Opportunity Patrice Onwuka explained that DEI programming has “done damage on college campuses” and increased tension between students based on race, gender, and religion. She further argued it has a chilling effect on free speech and academic freedom while grossly inflating bureaucracy and the costs of education. Onwuka further argued that the programming instilled “a sense of entitlement driven by victimhood” which was antithetical to the ideas of “aptitude, grit, and skill” required to succeed in life.

David Safavian with the American Conservative Union said his organization applauded the move and that the programming was a subversive liberal agenda that snuck into red states through universities and government agencies.
