Obama Praises Biden for Dropping Reelection Campaign

(TargetDailyNews.com) – Former President Barack Obama was so excited and pleased by President Joe Biden’s announcement that he’s not seeking reelection in November that he published a long-form statement hailing the announcement with heaps of praise and calling Biden his “dear friend.”

Obama used the neutral term “consequential” to describe Biden’s presidency alongside glowing endorsements of Biden’s patriotism. Obama argued that the president understood that the best decision for the good of America was for him to step aside. He also mentioned Biden’s long-established combative nature and said that the decision to leave the race was incredibly difficult for him.

The layering of praise suggests that this was the outcome Obama had been looking for for some time. The announcement capped several weeks with major news impacting the election regularly. The first debate between Biden and Trump resulted in a resounding defeat for Biden. Trump mocked the president as not knowing what he was saying in an incredibly viral clip.

Just weeks later on July 13th, an assassination attempt resulted in Trump being hit in the ear and tackled to the ground by the Secret Service. Moments later, after the suspect was shot, Trump raised his fist and mouthed “fight” to the audience who immediately began to clap and cheer as those tasked with protecting his life tried to move him to safety.

Biden’s handlers then announced a positive virus test on the official White House page and Biden’s last public appearance was July 17th boarding Air Force One. Not even a week later, on Sunday, July 21st, a typed letter was published to Biden’s official X page announcing his departure from the race with many wondering if Biden himself actually endorsed the message.

Obama’s statement crucially neglected to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, who had seemingly been indicated as the presumptive nominee for the Democrats in Biden’s announcement. Both Hillary and Bill Clinton endorsed Harris in an announcement letter of their own posted to social media.

Whether or not Harris becomes the candidate for the Democrats remains to be seen. The official selection won’t be known until the convention in August.
