(TargetDailyNews.com) – While former President Trump was attending the wake of slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller on Thursday, March 28th, President Biden was joined by former Democrat presidents to raise funds for his election campaign at Radio City Music Hall. Biden was joined by Bill Clinton and his old boss, Barack Obama, as well as other VIPs for a 5,000-seat event at the famous NYC venue.
The event was alleged to raise $25 million for Biden’s reelection, making it the single largest amount raised by a campaign yet in this cycle. The addition of the Clintons and Obamas at the event presented a united front against the Republicans and Donald Trump.
While Biden had little competition from within his own party, minus a brief attempt by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to challenge him before switching to run as an independent, he’s having tremendous trouble at the polls. Biden is suffering major losses of support among young people, black and Latino voters compared to the numbers for those groups in 2020.
Progressives, notoriously farther left than mainstream Democrats, are even upset with Biden over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war which has been raging since October last year. Numerous progressives voted “uncommitted” in their states’ primaries over the past two months with the numbers ranging from 10-20% of the vote.
The united support from establishment Democrats is an advantage that Trump doesn’t have amongst Republicans. Many of the neoconservative or mainstream Republicans oppose Trump’s policies concerning the southern border and war spending, for example. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has yet to issue his official endorsement, the two have had a particularly rocky relationship in the aftermath of January 6th.
Senior Obama advisor Eric Schultz told The New York Times that Obama will do “all he can” to help get Biden reelected. Schultz said Obama’s going to work to get as many Democrats elected “up and down the ballot” as possible.
Democrats in the White House and with Biden’s campaign have worked hard to maintain the appearance of good relations between Biden and Obama, despite past drama.
