MTG Accuses Smith of Abusing Powers

(TargetDailyNews.com) – House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., accused Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith of abusing his power after indicting Former President Donald Trump for the second time on Tuesday, August 1.

Minutes after news of the second federal indictment broke, Greene took to Twitter to call Smith a “terrible attorney” who has had many “failures in his career.” She also said that Trump is innocent, and that she would use the Holman Rule to defund Smith’s office. The Holman Rule is a rule in the House of Representatives that allows amendments to be added to appropriations bills, allowing for the defunding of certain offices and the firing of certain employees.

Trump is now yet again criminally charged by the Biden administration’s Justice Department, this time for attempting to overturn the 2020 election. Specifically, the indictment slaps four criminal charges on Trump, courtesy of a grand jury from a federal court in Washington, D.C.

The first charge of the indictment accuses the former president of conspiracy to defraud the United States by using “dishonesty, fraud, and deceit” in an attempt to obstruct the collection and tabulation of votes in the 2020 election.

In the second charge, Trump is accused of “conspiracy to impede” the Jan. 6, 2021 meeting of Congress to count the electoral votes. Similar to the second count, the third count of the indictment accuses Trump of actually attempting, as well as successfully obstructing, the Jan. 6 meeting of Congress. The fourth and final count accuses Trump of engaging in a conspiracy against the right to vote, specifically, attempting to have votes not counted for the sake of winning the election.

The news comes as Trump is also currently the subject of another indictment by the Department of Justice in connection to the mishandling of classified documents. The former president is accused of illegally storing classified government documents in his Florida Mar-a-Lago golf resort residence. New charges were also added to that indictment, accusing Trump of conspiring with Mar-a-Lago staffers to hide security tapes from federal investigators. Trump has vehemently denied these allegations.
