Majority Of Fox Viewers Back Trump’s Innocence

( – According to a recent poll, the majority of Fox News viewers do not believe that Donald Trump has committed any serious federal crimes.

The latest New York Times/Siena poll found that 73 percent of respondents whose primary news source is Fox News do not believe that Trump did anything wrong when he took classified documents from the White House when he left office.

The vast majority of Fox viewers, 91 percent, do not believe that the former president violated federal law.

In late July, the Justice Department filed a superseding indictment in the classified documents case alleging that Trump and co-defendants Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira attempted to obstruct a grand jury subpoena by deleting surveillance footage from Mar-a-Lago, bringing the total number of charges against Trump in the case to 39.

Last week, Trump was in a Washington DC District Court pleading not guilty to four charges in special counsel Jack Smith’s parallel investigation into his attempt to overturn the 2020 election results.

Trump faces charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstructing and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding, and “conspiracy against rights.”

In the indictment, the special counsel alleges that Trump and his campaign knowingly made false claims that the 2020 election was stolen and pressured federal officials and state election officials to alter the election results, despite knowing that the claims were false.

Smith also accuses Trump and his allies of assembling a slate of fraudulent electors in multiple states and attempting to coerce then-Vice President Pence to enter the fraudulent slate of electors in place of the electors certified by the states.

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who has overseen many of the cases involving January 6 rioters, scheduled the next hearing for August 28 when she will set the trial date.

After entering a not-guilty plea, Trump was released on the condition that he does not discuss the case with any witnesses except in the presence of his attorneys.
