Gender Pay Gap In WH Continues Under Biden

(TargetDailyNews.com) – Based on an analysis of the White House’s annual salary report, women working in the White House are being paid less than men, despite President Biden’s alleged commitment to achieving equal pay for women, Fox News reported.

Last month the White House submitted its annual report to Congress disclosing the names, positions, and salaries of the over 440 people working at the executive mansion.

According to the Wall Street Journal, analysis from the American Enterprise Institute’s Mark Perry found that the median salary for male staffers is $105,000 while the median salary for female staffers was $84,000.

Perry, who has evaluated the salaries under multiple administrations, determined that the overall gender wage gap in the Biden White House is 20 percent, with women making 80 cents for every dollar a man makes.

Based on Perry’s analysis, it is likely that the Biden White House’s gender wage gap is caused by a “composition effect.” Currently, there are more women than men working in the Biden White House, with 269 women compared to 179 men. And most of those women are in lower-paying positions.

While overall, female staffers earn less than their male counterparts, a few women in the Biden White House are among the highest-paid employees, with nine women, including press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, earning salaries of $180,000.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the gender pay gap in the Biden White House is just slightly larger than the national average.

The White House Council of Economic Advisors estimated that in 2022, the wage gap between men and women was 17 percent, with women earning only 83 cents for every dollar a man makes.

In its editorial, the Journal asked if the president’s gender wage gap means that the Biden White House is “more structurally sexist” that the national labor market.
