(TargetDailyNews.com) – President Joe Biden is going into his predecessor Donald Trump’s back catalog to find ways to mock his rival and portray him as an extremist who is dangerous to women.
At an April 23rd campaign rally in Florida, Biden cited remarks Trump allegedly made many years ago in which Trump allegedly said that women who get abortions should face legal punishment. Biden then transitioned to making fun of Trump’s latest business venture, the God Bless the USA Bible. The Bible, which sells for about $60, features the popular Lee Greenwood song “God Bless the USA” and includes a copy of the Constitution.
Biden claimed Trump wants women punished for “exercising their reproductive freedom,” a notion Biden speculates Trump got from “that Bible he’s trying to sell.” It is a strange remark coming from a President who claims to be a devout Catholic.
Florida is probably a good place for the president to rile up his base who cares about the right to abortion, as the Sunshine State has significantly tightened its abortion laws. Florida bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, one of the strictest laws in the nation.
Calling back to remarks he made a few months ago during his State of the Union speech, Biden told the Florida crowd that anti-abortion conservatives were going to “find out” how powerful women are politically the more they restrict abortion. During the SOTU, Biden seemed to direct that remark at the Supreme Court Justices seated in the front row; many observers said it seemed like a threat.
Urging the Floridian crowd to vote this fall, Biden continued lambasting Trump, saying Trump personally “ripped away” the rights of American women, which is technically untrue. The U.S. Supreme Court is independent of the executive branch, and it was the court, not Trump, that overturned the controversial Roe vs Wade decision in 2022. Biden suggested that women teach Trump and “MAGA Republicans” a lesson about what happens when they “mess with” American women.
Using the ubiquitous modern leftist term, Biden told attendees that Trump must be “held accountable” for the Roe decision. He suggested that Trump will go after the right to contraception and same-sex marriage next.
Presidential polling is up and down, and at the time of this writing, some polls show Biden and Trump neck and neck except in swing states where Trump has a lead.
